Throughout it accesses the choices made and concludes with conclusions on the final. It makes use of the influences of the prior history and the recent educational experience of the director. It follows the process of preproduction through rehearsals. This marks the second time the Playhouse has produced “To Kill a Mockingbird.” The play is directed by Executive Artistic Director Reggie Law, with scenic design by Jason Ammons, and costume design by Amber Cook. This thesis describes the directorial process of a production of Christopher Sergels's adaptation of Harper Lee's novel To Kill a Mockingbird. Fighting racism and injustice, he teaches Scout and her brother, Jem, to always stand up for what is right.

Confused as to why her friends and neighbors in her small Alabama town turn against her father, Scout, a precocious young tomboy, begins to question why Atticus is willing to risk his reputation in order to defend a man that everyone hates.

Chronicling the social and racial inequalities of the rural south in the midst of the Great Depression, the play follows the young girl, Jean Louise Finch, better known as Scout, as she is forced to face the eye-opening reality of racism in her hometown.Ītticus, a respected attorney and father to Scout, takes on a controversial case defending a man of color who is accused of a vicious crime against a white girl. Based on the 1960 Pulitzer Prize-winning book by the same title, Harper Lee’s celebrated novel, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” is faithfully adapted for the stage by playwright Christopher Sergel.
